The Special Olympics Airlift event kicked off this morning with dozens of sendoff parties around the U.S. for athletes and coaches attending the 2022 USA Games in Orlando.
Longtime customer and Special Olympics supporter Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc., received the special “Dove 1” call sign as the first aircraft to land at the Orlando Executive Airport. Participants and volunteers also cheered the arrival of the Olympic torch for the games.
A Cessna, Beechcraft or Hawker aircraft is taking off or landing approximately every two minutes during the Airlift to transport athletes and their coaches to the games. Follow along for updates about the heartwarming event.
