This initiative has since evolved into Women in Aviation Week, a global celebration of women's contributions to aviation.

WICHITA, Kan. (Feb. 17, 2024) — Textron Aviation today announced the delivery of a new Cessna Grand Caravan EX Amphibian turboprop to Malaysian property developer, Ikhasas Sdn Bhd, via its subsidiary company Oriental Sky Sdn Bhd. The aircraft, to be managed and operated by local charter operator Systematic Aviation Services (SAS), will be used for passenger transport between the capital city of Kuala Lumpur and a new waterfront resort on Perhentian islands, off the northern east coast of Malaysia. This will be the country’s first amphibious airplane operation in recent history after it gained necessary approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia to launch domestic operations in 2024.
The Cessna Grand Caravan EX Amphibian is designed and manufactured by Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company.
Ikhasas group managing director, Ir. Tan Chee Kian, said “Seaplanes will be the most convenient way to reach the Perhentian Islands. Currently, it takes a time-consuming 6-hour road journey followed by a one-hour ferry ride from the port in Kuala Besut. With our 11-seater aircraft, travelers will benefit from time savings as it will transport passengers from Kuala Lumpur to land directly in the waters near the beachside resort. At the same time, we preserve the islands pristine environment and natural forests which would otherwise be felled for airport construction.”
“We are honored for Grand Caravan EX Amphibian to be selected. The versatility and excellent operating economics make it the perfect partner for Ikhasas to develop sustainable tourism. The comfortable cabin, large windows for sightseeing, and floats allowing it to take off and land anywhere are ideal for their missions,”

Bringing quality to every customer; one CJ3-series jet at a time
If you ask John Salazar about the key to the long-term success of the Cessna Citation CJ3 aircraft, one word quickly comes to mind – quality. Salazar is an avionics crew lead on the Citation CJ3 Gen2 assembly line, and attention to every detail plays a fundamental role in the ongoing success of the aircraft.
It’s what helps make the CJ3-series aircraft so popular with customers around the world. Textron Aviation introduced the new CJ3 Gen2 during NBAA in Las Vegas in late 2023. The aircraft is the company’s most comprehensive Gen2 product to date, building upon two decades of satisfaction from customers. Members of the CJ3 Gen2 assembly team value that positive feedback.
"It's a lot like buying a new car,” Salazar said. “You want it to be as pristine as you can get it. The more attention to detail that we can apply to our jobs, the more satisfied the customer will be. That's what keeps our business going."
John Salazar said he and his teammates’ commitment to delivering excellence and customer satisfaction is evident in every aircraft they assemble.
“Without the quality aircraft, what are we doing?” he said. “We're not going to last long. It's up to us to build something that customers actually desire. We take pride in our work, and we try to pass on that same level of excellence to the next generation of people coming in.”
Beyond his technical expertise, John's appreciation for the people he works with has made his experience at Textron Aviation truly special. He enjoys the relationships he has built with his colleagues throughout his 23-year career.
“These people – we enjoy seeing each other,” he said. “It's the camaraderie back and forth. I'm a firm believer that if you love your job, you never really work a day in your life.”
