Textron Aviation joins Military Spouse Employer Partnership to provide meaningful career pathways for military spouses
At Textron Aviation, building our team means supporting those connected to the mission. That commitment has been reflected in the company’s newest milestone: joining the Military Spouse Employer Partnership (MSEP), a United States Department of War (DoW) initiative established in 2011 to connect military spouses with employers committed to hiring, developing and retaining military-connected talent.
Many military spouses often navigate unique employment challenges due to the requirements of military service. Despite their skills and experience, they encounter an unemployment rate of approximately 20%, significantly higher than the civilian average, according to a 2024 DoW report.
As an MSEP partner, Textron Aviation is helping create more accessible, meaningful employment futures for military spouses. A key component of MSEP is its online portal where partner employers can post opportunities to improve job visibility and access for military spouses. The program also connects spouses with career exploration resources and mentorship opportunities to help them secure stable, fulfilling careers.
Textron Aviation employs more than 1,500 military-affiliated employees, which includes military spouses. Kapri Nailor, aftermarket planner, is one such team member, bringing experience both as a veteran herself and as a military spouse. Her husband, Curtis, is currently serving on active duty in Europe and has been there for the past three years.
Following her 22-year career in the Air Force, Nailor built a new path at Textron Aviation while supporting her family’s continued military service. Here is her journey in her own words.

A: "Textron Aviation felt like a natural fit. My experience in military aviation translated directly into meaningful work here, which made that transition both seamless and rewarding.”
A: “Being a military spouse comes with challenges. With my husband deployed for three years, I’ve been balancing work, raising our two kids and managing the household on our own. It’s a lot to carry, and it requires constant flexibility.”
A: “My manager and team have been very supportive of my situation, being a single parent right now while my husband is deployed. He understands any appointments I have for the kids that impact my schedule. I feel 100 percent supported.... It feels like the people at Textron Aviation truly value the military community and understand that our lifestyle is a little different, so they're willing to accommodate those unique needs.”
A: “It feels really great to be part of an organization where people genuinely value what you bring to the table. The fact that they want to hear and share your story makes you feel seen and appreciated. I’ve felt this from the start and seeing my work come to life on the shop floor has been incredibly rewarding.”
A: “Absolutely. Textron Aviation is very military friendly. Before joining Textron Aviation, I wasn’t sure what my role was outside of the military or what value I would bring in a new environment, but Textron Aviation wants to ensure that your transition is successful. Many leaders are willing to be flexible with your schedule. They are very understanding and they really value what you bring to the table.”
