Meet Marco, an Army Aviation veteran and technical training manager

The transition from military to civilian life often comes with one defining question: How do I turn my military experiences into a long-term civilian career?

For Marco Albert, a 12-year U.S. Army Aviation veteran and manager of technical training at Textron Aviation, he found his answer by joining a company willing to invest in him.

Marco began his Army career as a flight engineer, working across various helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. That foundation made his eventual transition to civilian aviation feel natural. The systems were familiar, the discipline transferable and the mission mindset already ingrained.

Before leaving the Army, Marco pursued his Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license, where he used his military experience to qualify through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He completed the intensive crash course on his own initiative and at his own expense.

After he learned about a job opening through a fellow service member, Marco applied for a technician role working on Cessna aircraft at the Textron Aviation Service Center in Wichita, Kansas. The position offered competitive pay, strong benefits and a cost of living that supported his family, but it was the potential for career growth that made it feel like the right next step.

“I don’t think I could work anywhere else and have the same variety of opportunities,” he said. “I've gained experience in engineering, defense and training — all within the same company.”

A career that grows with you

Marco spent more than a decade honing his technical expertise as a service technician. From there, he moved into maintenance engineering, defense project management and eventually his current role in technical training management at the Career & Learning Center.

His career journey at the company spans more than two decades and multiple roles. He credits his progression to a company culture that values mentorship and leaders willing to invest in its workforce.

Leadership believed in my potential, and that made all the difference. Each role built on the last and helped me grow into the leader I am today. Marco Albert, 12-year Army Aviation veteran and technical training manager, Textron Aviation

Textron Aviation supports career growth with tangible investment. While working full time, Marco pursued his Inspector Authorization, with the company covering his training and test costs to achieve the certification.

Today, Marco oversees onboarding and training for new hires, bringing his military experience full circle. He understands firsthand what it means to transition into a successful civilian career.

“In the military, you don’t start a new mission without the right training and a team behind you. At the Career & Learning Center, we provide new hires with hands-on learning, resources and real support from day one."
