Textron Aviation global service network recertifies under NATA sustainability standard, five locations achieve Tier 1 status
Textron Aviation today announced its 20 company-owned service centers received recertification from the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) as a Green Aviation Business. The recognition is part of NATA’s Sustainability Standard for Aviation Businesses program encouraging environmental sustainability within the industry.
“We understand the importance of pursuing sustainable solutions in our operations across the globe and are taking actions for a sustainable future for our employees, communities and customers,” said Brian Rohloff, senior vice president, Customer Support. “I am proud that our investments in our facilities not only allow us to offer the best customer experience but also reduce our environmental footprint.”
Five company-owned service centers achieved Tier 1 status and 15 achieved base-level certifications. To achieve base level certification, facilities must establish a baseline carbon footprint and work to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with ground support equipment. Facilities also must offer recycling, implement paperless systems as appropriate, begin installing LED lighting and reduce plastic water bottle use.
Tier 1 facilities include the company’s service centers in Paris, Singapore, Valencia, Zurich and Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to the base level certification achievements, these facilities phased out single use plastic items, installed motion-sensor lighting and ensured kitchen appliances and plumbing fixtures are energy efficient. These locations also developed policies to reduce idling in ground support equipment.
Textron Aviation remains an active participant in conversations and industry events dedicated to sustainability initiatives in aviation, including NATA’s certification. The company collaborates with suppliers and stakeholders to find the most efficient and future-forward ways to manufacture products and procure energy.
In 2020, the company signed a 20-year wind energy agreement with Evergy, Inc. which provides nearly all electricity needs through renewable energy for the company’s facilities located in Wichita and Independence, Kansas. Additionally, all Textron Aviation turbine aircraft can operate with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and the company offers SAF as part of the regular customer service experience as supply allows.
Textron Aviation, through its Beechcraft, Cessna and Hawker brands, is renowned for its unrivaled global service network dedicated to complete life-cycle support. Textron Aviation’s support organization includes 20 company-owned full-service centers located around the world with expert service engineers offering maintenance, inspections, parts, repairs, avionic upgrades, equipment installations, refurbishments and other specialized services. In addition to its company-owned footprint, Textron Aviation’s jet and turboprop customers have access to a global network of more than 300 authorized service facilities. Textron Aviation also offers a mobile support program featuring more than 40 mobile service units, three dedicated support aircraft, and on-site service technicians and support.
