Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) today announced it has teamed with Raytheon Australia and BAE Systems Australia to offer a solution centered around the Beechcraft T-6C trainer for the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) AIR 5428 Pilot Training System requirement. AIR 5428 requirements include aircraft, advanced simulators, training devices, maintenance and logistics, as well as comprehensive courseware certified and maintained to the ADF’s exacting standards. The three companies are displaying the T-6C and their systems this week at a joint chalet, S9, during the Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defence Exposition at the Avalon Airport near Geelong, Victoria.

“The T-6C is the world’s premier integrated pilot training solution and will be the most effective platform for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the ADF’s pilot training,“ said Jim Maslowski, HBC president, U.S. and International Government Business. “The advanced technology of the trainer mirrors the systems and capabilities of Australia’s advanced fourth and fifth generation aircraft and will deliver extremely cost effective results, well-trained confident pilots and high graduation rates.”

Raytheon’s Australian military training programs include Hornet and Super Hornet aircrew training, as well as the Royal Australian Navy’s Retention and Motivation Initiative (RMI). BAE Systems Australia manages the Hawk Lead-In Fighter capability that enables the Commonwealth to train Fast-Jet aircrews and supports the Basic Flying Training School (BFTS) at Tamworth where all initial ADF pilot training is undertaken.

In addition to the hard-point wings, the T-6C features an integrated glass cockpit and the advanced Esterline CMC Cockpit 4000 avionics suite that greatly expands advanced training opportunities. The systems are integrated with a Hands-On Throttle and Stick, providing the student pilot and instructor with a simpler interface to the digital cockpit. The CMC Cockpit 4000 avionics suite is the first in its class to incorporate a fully integrated and FAA-certified dual FMS/GPS navigation suite that meets the required navigation performance standards for current worldwide airspace equipment. The open architecture design of the Cockpit 4000 provides the flexibility to expand capabilities and continuously meet current and future training needs.

The Beechcraft T-6 offers military organizations worldwide the most proven and most cost-effective training system available today. In addition to accommodating instruction in instrument flight procedures and basic aerial maneuvers, the T-6 delivers an outstanding training capability that is appropriate for the most basic introductory flight training through more challenging and complex advanced missions. To date, the aircraft has been used to train pilots in approximately 20 different countries. The T-6 production line remains active with 80 deliveries in 2010 alone, with additional orders reaching out to 2015.
