Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC), the world-leading manufacturer of business, special mission, light attack and trainer aircraft, today announced the sale of a Hawker 4000 jet to InterAviation, a charter company based at Bucharest Baneasa Airport, Romania.

InterAviation caters to business travelers, government officials and families looking for transportation throughout the Middle East, Europe, Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States in particular. The Hawker 4000 – the world’s most advanced super-midsize jet – will be the second Hawker jet in InterAviation’s fleet and gives the company additional range, a larger cabin and more cargo capability to meet an array of missions.

“We are delighted to have added the Hawker 4000 to our rapidly expanding fleet as we continue to expand on the range of services and number of destinations we offer to our customers,” said Captain Octavian Pita, general manager, InterAviation. “It is our intention to provide an excellent level of service, comfort and efficiency which is why the Hawker 4000 was the natural choice for us.”

The Hawker 4000 is one of eight aircraft HBC has on display at this week’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva. The flagship of the Hawker line, the composite fuselage Hawker 4000 sets the standard for quality, performance and value in the super-midsize business jet class. With a 3,280 nautical mile non-stop range and cruise speeds up to Mach 0.84, it features a sophisticated composite fuselage, all metal supercritical wing, powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada FADEC-controlled engines and state-of-the-art Honeywell Primus EPIC avionics.

“This is the second jet InterAviation has purchased from us in many years, having bought a Hawker 900XP last year, and we look forward to strengthening our relationship with this fast-growing operator as it continues to capitalize on the demand for business aviation in the region,” said Sean McGeough, HBC president, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. “Eastern Europe is a key market for us and this sale reflects our view that the region presents significant opportunities for growth.”

Within Eastern Europe, Romania presents HBC one of the best growth markets in the region. While its business aircraft fleet may still be relatively small – with 20 based in the country – it has already grown rapidly in recent years with a three-fold increase in deliveries between the first half of the past decade and the second half. HBC believes that the size of the fleet will continue to grow quickly. Between April 2011 and April 2012, Romania saw a four percent increase in business flights1, representing the ninth largest annual increase in Europe.
